Job description

​The Solar QA Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Quality Assurance program for utility-scale solar EPC projects. This role ensures that all engineering, procurement, and construction activities meet contractual, regulatory, and industry standards, while driving a culture of quality across project teams and subcontractors. The QA Manager will work closely with project management, engineering, field construction, and procurement teams to ensure first-time quality and compliance from project kickoff through final turnover.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Program Leadership

  • Develop and implement project-specific Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) in alignment with corporate QA/QC standards, client requirements, and applicable codes.

  • Lead the planning and execution of quality audits, surveillance, and inspections across engineering, procurement, and construction phases.

  • Ensure QA procedures are incorporated into EPC workflows, including design reviews, material inspections, and construction activities.

Engineering & Procurement Interface

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to verify designs meet contractual and code requirements before release for construction.

  • Work with procurement to ensure vendor qualification, material compliance, and documentation meet project quality standards.

  • Review and approve supplier quality plans, manufacturing inspection/test reports, and material certifications.

Construction Quality Oversight

  • Monitor field quality performance to ensure construction meets design specifications, applicable codes, and safety standards.

  • Coordinate with subcontractor QA representatives to ensure consistent inspection and reporting practices.

  • Track and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action requests (CARs), and quality-related RFIs.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and complete quality records for turnover, including inspection reports, test results, and certifications.

  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, ASTM, UL, local jurisdiction requirements, and contractual specifications.

  • Manage quality documentation for project closeout packages and warranty support.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify trends and recurring issues, and lead initiatives to improve quality processes and reduce rework.

  • Provide training and mentorship to project teams on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and documentation requirements.

  • Drive a “Quality First” culture within the EPC team and among subcontractors.
