Quality/Commissioning Electrical Supervisor
Job description
We are seeking an experienced Quality/Commissioning Electrical Supervisor to support the delivery of utility-scale solar PV projects across the South West and Midlands.
This is a permanent position with site travel required. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this role.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing electrical quality assurance and commissioning activities, ensuring all installations are compliant with design specifications, industry standards, and project requirements, and fully tested prior to grid connection and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and monitor the quality of electrical installation works on site
Coordinate electrical testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities
Review ITPs, method statements, and risk assessments
Witness and sign off key testing activities including cable testing, inverter commissioning, transformer energisation, and protection testing
Identify and manage non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
Support the preparation of commissioning dossiers and handover documentation
Ensure systems are fully compliant and ready for grid connection
Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards during testing and energisation phases
Flexibility to work extended hours during critical commissioning and energisation periods is required.
Requirements
Proven experience in electrical supervision, QA/QC, or commissioning roles
Background in utility-scale solar, substations, or large infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of MV/LV systems, inverters, transformers, and protection systems
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
Relevant electrical qualifications (NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent)
ECS/CSCS card (SMSTS/SSSTS desirable)
Full UK driving licence
