Position Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Renewables Procurement & Category Manager to lead supplier sourcing and management for renewable energy initiatives across North America and global operations. This individual will drive category strategy, supplier engagement, and procurement excellence to optimize cost, quality, and risk management throughout the supply chain.
The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge in solar, wind, energy storage, and clean tech, paired with exceptional negotiation and contract management capabilities. This role will work cross-functionally with project management, engineering, legal, and finance teams to ensure supplier partnerships align with project goals and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end procurement processes including RFPs, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and onboarding.
Develop and execute category strategies for renewable components and services (solar panels, inverters, turbines, storage systems, EPCs).
Manage a portfolio of suppliers, proactively optimizing performance, quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with project timelines and operational needs.
Conduct market analysis to identify trends, cost drivers, risks, and emerging clean tech suppliers.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in renewables procurement to support sales, operations, and technical teams.
Evaluate supplier risk profiles and create mitigation strategies to ensure reliability and compliance.
Oversee the accuracy and completeness of supplier records, profiles, and documentation.
Support legal reviews for complex or high-risk contracts and coordinate with legal counsel as needed.
Partner with internal engineering teams to establish supplier standards, audit protocols, and quality benchmarks.
Drive continuous improvement through supplier collaboration and innovation initiatives.

Qualifications:
Deep knowledge of renewable technologies such as solar, wind, battery storage, and grid integration.
Strong skills in contract negotiation, procurement strategy, and supplier performance management.
Ability to thrive in a matrixed, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Expertise in ERP/CRM tools (NetSuite and Salesforce) and procurement platforms.
Comfortable supporting complex project requirements with legal and technical implications.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to scale systems, processes, and tools across expanding project portfolios.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management, ideally within the renewable energy, utilities, or EPC sectors.
Experience managing cross-functional workflows between sales and operations.
Background in construction project management or technical engineering environments is highly desirable.
Experience with supplier engagement for energy storage and emerging technologies is a strong plus.
Work Environment & Travel:
This role may require up to 25% domestic and international travel, including site visits and supplier meetings.
