About the Role

As a Technical Sustainability Advisor at one of the largest Real Estate companies, you will be responsible for providing actionable advice and implementation projects for property clients across all sectors.

This client, unlike others in the Real Estate sector have a unique culture that encourages entrepreneurialism and has a much-reduced level of bureaucracy that distinguishes them from others within this industry.

The focus for this role is to ensure that the client is always providing the latest intelligence, advice and technical support to our developer, investor, and occupier clients. This is a great opportunity to join a large established business with a rapidly growing sustainability practice and provides the right candidate with an opportunity to help shape and manage the products that they offer.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering carbon reduction within real estate and have the knowledge and credibility to engage clients in exploring options suited to their assets. The role requires confidently leading consultations with groups of people, to be collaborative and have excellent skills in communication to effectively engage and facilitate discussions with senior leaders and key clients alike.

We understand that each of our clients requires a bespoke programme of solutions to enable them to achieve their ESG and net zero goals, and this person must possess an ability to assess risks, realise opportunities and identify the best pathway to enable them to achieve these goals. It will require someone who can prioritise topics of real value to our clients and deliver solutions that supports their business.

The ideal candidate will have existing knowledge, and a passion for continual education and upskilling on the evolving sustainability landscape and impacts on real estate of all property types (offices, industrial, retail, hotels & leisure etc).

Responsibilities

  • Developing decarbonisation (NZC) strategies and pathways for real estate assets and portfolios.

  • Analysing energy profiles, assessing performance, generating insights and reporting.

  • Undertaking surveys and delivering sustainability services of a technical nature; BMS optimisation, Fault Detection Diagnostics, Energy Audits, Net Zero Carbon Audits, and such.

  • Maintain advanced knowledge associated with carbon legislation, certifications and the wider sustainability agenda and regulations to ensure that Colliers and our clients are fully informed.

  • Ensure divisional heads and their teams are aware of the latest developments and opportunities for their clients.

  • Engage with clients as a trusted advisor and Subject Matter Expert (SME).

  • Build relationships with existing and new clients, identify opportunities, and assist in securing future business for the company.

Person Specification

  • The ideal candidate would possess skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Solid understanding of building services and experience conducting technical audits.

  • Ability to determine the value proposition of projects through relevant assessment of benefits e.g. financial, resilience, obsolescence.

  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear and concise language, articulate the value proposition, and gain buy-in from clients and colleagues.

  • Strong interest in innovation and technology (knowledge of cloud based BMS analytics platforms would be an advantage).

  • Knowledge of legislative/regulatory drivers such as MEES and ESOS.

  • Knowledge of NZC standards and frameworks e.g., CCREM, UKGBC, LETI, NABERS etc.

  • Commercial awareness to identify value-add advice for clients.

  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who can help drive this growing business area.

  • Willingness to help develop junior members of the team.

Qualifications

  • You want to work in a friendly and collaborative environment and have:

  • Relevant technical qualifications and/or appropriate experience.

  • Member or seeking membership of a professional body – CIBSE, IMECHE, Energy Institute etc.

  • EPC and/or ESOS Lead Assessor status would be an advantage, but not essential.

  • Experience with or willingness to learn complex energy modelling techniques (IES VE)
