The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Trader, Carbon Markets to play a pivotal role in expanding this client’s global carbon portfolio. As a Senior Trader you will be a key member of the Environmental Markets (EM) leadership team. Your responsibilities will encompass managing and enhancing the compliance portfolio, fostering collaboration with developers, originators, project managers and other team members to bolster the voluntary carbon business, and leading a team of analysts and associates.
Responsibilities:
Manage and Expand Compliance Portfolio: You will oversee the growth and management of the compliance carbon portfolio, with an initial focus on North America.
Leadership and Team Development: Lead a team of market analysts and associates, with a gradual expansion plan to enter and scale international market activities, such as the EU ETS.
Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the existing team of voluntary market experts, including product managers, project managers, developers, and originators, to execute strategic plan in the voluntary carbon market.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to refining and evolving the long-term carbon market strategy to ensure continued success in the industry.
Origination and Development: Support potential investments in structured origination and new project development to expand the environmental commodity portfolio.
Market Expansion: Work collaboratively with other members of the Environmental Markets leadership team to explore opportunities in markets adjacent to carbon.
About you:
Proven Track Record: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the global carbon market, including at least 5 years of trading experience in compliance carbon markets in North America
Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge of carbon markets, encompassing both voluntary and compliance markets, and a strong working knowledge of various carbon standards and methodologies. You are recognized as a leading market expert.
Trading Experience: Extensive experience executing trades in the global market and overseeing large and complex environmental commodity portfolios.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team building and management.
Instrument Proficiency: Familiarity with a range of trading instruments and structures, including futures and options.
Market Insight: Strong knowledge of existing carbon standards, methodologies, compliance markets, and a well-established network within the industry.
