TGRC is supporting a leading U.S. utility-scale renewable energy IPP in the hire of a Manager, Development Engineering to join their rapidly growing execution platform. This is a highly visible role within a well-capitalized developer-owner-operator with a multi-GW U.S. pipeline, a strong track record of bringing projects through construction, and a clear mandate to scale delivery capability across solar PV and co-located storage.
The Opportunity
The Manager, Development Engineering will be responsible for assessing technical feasibility, risk, and design assumptions across development-stage and pre-construction projects. You will play a central role in ensuring projects progress smoothly through EPC RFP, design, and construction handoff, while driving consistent standards, best practices, and engineering governance across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a Development Engineering team supporting utility-scale solar PV (and storage optionality)
Establish and maintain engineering standards, lessons learned, and best practices across EPC bid + design phases
Own technical assumptions and design governance through development and preconstruction
Standardize the engineering component of EPC RFP processes and support bid evaluations
Review and provide written input on technical drawings (PV plant, substation/HV, SCADA, BESS)
Support RFIs and technical issue resolution through EPC bidding and design phases
Manage relationships with Owners’ Engineers (OE) and support Independent Engineer (IE) processes
Develop technical scopes, exhibits, specifications, and contract deliverables for consultants and EPCs
Identify and mitigate risks, cost adders, and constructability issues prior to construction
Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical and Civil also considered)
5–10+ years of relevant engineering and/or construction experience
Proven ability to lead a team and drive accountability across multiple projects
Strong utility-scale solar PV & BESS design and construction knowledge (modules → inverter → MV/HV → collector substation)
Ability to redline and review drawings and communicate design comments clearly
Working knowledge of key electrical standards and codes (NEC, IEEE, ASTM, etc.)
Strong coordination skills across EPCs, consultants, utilities, permitting agencies, and internal stakeholders
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment
Preferred:
BESS design and construction exposure
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Why This Role
Join a scaled, execution-led renewable energy IPP with long-term institutional backing
High-impact role supporting a multi-GW development portfolio
Blend of leadership + hands-on technical ownership
Strong visibility across development, preconstruction, EPC and construction teams
