Job description
A well-capitalised, pan-European independent flexibility provider is expanding its German platform and is looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager in Hamburg to lead the delivery of large-scale renewable and battery energy storage projects. With significant financial backing and multiple large assets already in operation across Europe, the business is building out a substantial pipeline of utility-scale BESS projects and associated grid infrastructure in Germany.
This is a key hire into a growing platform, offering real ownership, visibility and long-term growth.
The Opportunity
The Senior Project Manager will take full responsibility for delivering utility-scale BESS projects and related electrical infrastructure, including substations and grid connection assets. The role covers the full project lifecycle from late-stage development through EPC execution, construction, commissioning and handover to operations. This position will suit an experienced project leader who combines strong technical understanding (HV/MV infrastructure, substations, grid connection) with commercial and contractual strength.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-end delivery of large-scale BESS and renewable infrastructure projects
Management of EPC contractors, OEMs, technical advisors and key suppliers
Oversight of substation construction and grid connection works (MV/HV)
Full ownership of schedule, budget, risk and reporting
Contract management (EPC, supply, grid connection agreements)
Coordination with internal development, engineering, procurement and finance teams
Active stakeholder management with TSOs/DSOs, authorities and external partners
Leadership on HSE standards and site performance
Management of project commissioning and handover to operations
Profile
8+ years’ experience delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects
Proven track record with utility-scale renewables and/or BESS projects
Strong experience in substations and grid connection processes in Germany
Deep understanding of EPC structures (FIDIC or equivalent)
Experience managing significant CAPEX budgets
Background in electrical engineering, power systems or similar
Fluent German and English
