Since 2009, they have built one of the country’s largest portfolios of solar, wind, and battery storage assets, with a strong track record of performance and sustainability. They play a key role in supporting the UK’s net zero transition through hands-on development and asset management.

Purpose of the Senior Authorised Person (SAP)

The Senior Authorised Person (SAP) will oversee and manage High Voltage (HV) operations on utility-scale, ground-mounted solar PV assets across the UK. Acting as the primary authority alongside the Control Engineer, the SAP will ensure safe operation, compliance, and maintenance of HV systems, including switching, isolation, and safety documentation. The role also involves HV and LV maintenance across the portfolio, as well as the use and testing of solar PV instruments.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Carry out routine maintenance, testing, and remedial works on solar PV systems.

  • Lead and supervise HV maintenance, fault response, and emergency operations.

  • Plan and perform HV and LV preventative maintenance in coordination with the Control Engineer and SAP team, in line with the annual PPM schedule.

  • Undertake HV operations, including switching and repairs, under the guidance of the appointed Control and External Authorising Engineer.

  • Issue safety documentation, including Permit to Work, Limitation of Access, and Sanction to Test.

  • Perform corrective maintenance and infrastructure upgrades as required.

  • Conduct risk assessments, analyse operational limitations, and report safety incidents or learnings to management.

  • Supervise and coordinate third-party contractors on site, ensuring compliance with H&S regulations.

  • Liaise with DNOs, clients, and stakeholders as necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations, BS7671, and all relevant UK legislation.

  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of electrical testing.

  • Support Field Service Engineers with system fault finding and performance issues.

  • Safeguard data security and confidentiality in line with GDPR, company policies, and applicable SLAs, particularly with data from CCTV or personal sources.

  • Adhere to all fire, health, and safety requirements, ensuring awareness of current policies, risk assessments, and training obligations.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Around 5+ years’ experience in HV operations, ideally within renewable energy or large-scale solar.

  • SAP authorisation from a UK DNO (or equivalent accredited training).

  • Strong knowledge of HV protection systems, transformers, switchgear, and grid compliance.

  • Electrical Engineering qualification (Degree or HNC/HND).

  • Solid understanding of UK electrical safety regulations and industry best practice.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
