Job description

​My client, a global leader in high-voltage electrical infrastructure solutions, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the installation and commissioning of transformer substations in Germany. This role supports their strategic expansion into the Western European market, with a focus on collaboration with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in Germany.

The transformers are manufactured in internationally, with the design phase currently underway and finalization expected by October–November 2025. The successful candidate will join during the pre-installation planning and documentation phase, leading efforts to localize technical materials and ensure seamless execution once site works begin in 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of transformer substation installation projects in Germany.

  • Serve as the primary interface between international engineering teams and local German stakeholders.

  • Support prequalification and contractual discussions with TSOs and other local partners.

  • Oversee on-site installation activities, managing subcontractors, timelines, and budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with local standards and regulatory requirements, particularly during the installation and commissioning phases.

  • Participate in the technical documentation and training process, including potential short-term travel internatinoally.

  • Help establish and maintain strong relationships across the German energy sector, including TSOs, DSOs, and suppliers.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline).

  • 5–10 years of project management experience in the

    energy, power systems, or heavy electrical infrastructure sector.

  • Background in transformer systems, substations, or high-voltage equipment installation.

  • Proven ability to manage teams and subcontractors on-site, with an emphasis on safety and technical compliance.

  • Fluent in German (native or near-native proficiency required); proficient in English for internal coordination.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly for navigating multi-national and cross-cultural project teams.

Key Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of the German energy market, including relevant TSO/DSO practices and regulations.

  • Ability to translate and localize technical documentation and support alignment between global and local project standards.

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment, supported by a broader international organization.

  • Experience dealing with TSO contracts, local authorities, and prequalification processes is highly desirable.
