You’ll work cross-functionally to lead compliance training, monitor market activity, and respond to regulatory inquiries—all while helping to shape the future of energy market participation.
Under general supervision of the Director - Energy Markets Compliance, the Compliance Manager manages projects, activities and deliverables associated with the compliance of relevant energy markets rules, regulations, and tariffs (e.g., Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) rules and regulations, California Independent System Operator (CAISO) tariffs and business practice manuals).
What You’ll Do:
Oversee day-to-day compliance monitoring for energy market operations
Manage and track compliance training across business units
Investigate and respond to inquiries from ISOs, RTOs, and regulatory bodies
Coordinate internal investigations and drive implementation of corrective actions
Maintain policy documentation and lead annual review cycles
Support preparation for audits and regulatory filings
About You:
5+ years of relevant experience in energy markets compliance (FERC/CAISO experience required)
Strong understanding of wholesale energy markets, scheduling practices, and regulatory structures
Proven ability to develop and implement compliance programs
Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Skilled in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SharePoint and Power Automate a plus
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with battery storage hybrids and CAISO market rules
Exposure to enforcement trends and market behavior scrutiny
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing consultants
Work Setup:
Remote-first position with some travel to California-based offices and sites (At most 25%)
Ideal for candidates based in or willing to travel regularly to Southern California
