A leading renewable energy developer is seeking a committed Permitting Project Manager to drive the approval process for large-scale photovoltaic and battery storage projects across Germany.

The company is in an exciting growth phase, backed by strong investment and long-term development ambitions. With several gigawatts of renewable energy projects currently in the pipeline, this role plays a central part in bringing projects to ready-to-build status and supporting the continued expansion of the portfolio.

You will act as the key interface between project partners, external stakeholders and authorities, ensuring smooth progress through all approval stages. If you want to take on broad responsibility in a future-oriented sector, this is an excellent opportunity.

Your Responsibilities

  • Achieve ready-to-build status: Manage the full permitting process from mid-stage development to final approval.

  • Coordinate external partners: Collaborate with planning offices, authorities, landowners, grid operators and other stakeholders to ensure efficient approval workflows.

  • Approval planning: Prepare applications, oversee project coordination and secure reliable regulatory approvals.

  • On-site participation: Attend site visits and meetings with authorities to align project development steps.

  • Budget oversight: Manage approval-related budgets and ensure project expenditures remain within agreed limits.

  • Project development: Define project scope and objectives, engaging relevant stakeholders and reviewing technical options.

  • Performance tracking: Monitor project performance using established tools, systems and KPIs.

  • Risk management: Identify risks early and proactively resolve issues to keep projects on track.

  • Process improvement: Stay informed of market developments and continuously enhance permitting processes.

  • Documentation & reporting: Maintain transparent reporting on project progress and portfolio status.

  • Time management: Develop schedules and ensure milestones and deadlines are consistently met.

Your Profile
  • Degree or vocational training in a relevant field, combined with approx. 6–10 years of experience in project development, urban and land-use planning, or comparable approval procedures.

  • Demonstrated experience securing permits for renewable energy projects in Germany, ideally in later-stage development (ready-to-build).

  • Confident in dealing with authorities, grid operators and landowners; willingness to travel nationwide.

  • Strong communicator with excellent negotiation, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Hands-on mindset, able to prioritise effectively across multiple parallel projects.

  • Business-fluent German (C1/C2), strong MS Office skills, and a Class B driving licence.

What’s Offered
  • Permanent employment with a stable and growing renewable energy developer.

  • A dynamic working environment in a central Hamburg location, with comprehensive onboarding.

  • Open communication, flat hierarchies, and a collaborative team culture.

  • Strong focus on work-life balance and flexibility.

  • Competitive compensation, additional financial benefits and a nationwide rail pass.

  • Ongoing professional development through tailored training opportunities.

  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
