Location: Central London (3 days office based)

Role Purpose:

As Principal Carbon Consultant, you will be accountable for ensuring consultancy projects in our carbon service offering are delivered to a very high level of quality and critical thinking, to specified budgets and profit margins. You will be accountable for the performance and development of the Senior Carbon Consultants. Responsible for creating and enhancing current customer relationships; as well as thought leadership and direction to the team, as the company grows. You will be an ambassador for the business with your exemplary knowledge of climate change, carbon neutrality, net zero, and beyond net zero mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for ensuring high-level quality standards are maintained and delivered throughout the consultancy projects, in particular those that form part of our carbon service offering. That all projects are delivered to the company quality style and demonstrating the practical and deep level of critical thinking expected of the company.

  • Accountable for ensuring the projects are cost effectively priced and are delivered within the agreed margins, on time.

  • Accountable for enhancing existing client relations and actively developing relationships with new clients. Ensuring communication channels are timely and appropriate at all times. Ensure all information received by the client is accurate and detailed in order to exceed client expectation.

  • Accountable for the accuracy of the ESG and sustainability advice prepared and given to the client. Ensuring that you keep up to date with new legislation, trends and best practice and using the information gained to develop leading edge tools/documentation for our clients.

  • Accountable for ensuring all client required resources are logged, mapped, booked and costed correctly in the company systems to ensure complete and accurate resource requirements are visible to senior management on dashboards.

  • Ensuring the Client Delivery Team is resourced accurately and working with the other Principal Consultants and Managing Consultant to improve resourcing processes and ways of working.

  • As a senior leader within the business you will be expected to contribute to the overall national and international growth strategy, thought leadership of the business and the active search for potential new senior consultants and consultants, as well as demonstrating leadership qualities, such as professionalism, mentoring, etc.

  • Responsible for the development of Senior Carbon Consultants ensuring they develop and successfully mentor the Consultants.

Your Experience:

  • Educated to degree level, ideally a Masters.

  • IEMA Full Membership or similar and IEMA Fellow within 12 months.

  • Solid work experience, with a minimum of 8+ years in the climate change field.

  • Track record of building and maintaining robust client relationships.

  • Strong project management skills and delivery of workshops and training.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

  • Excellent accurate knowledge of UK and international climate change policy, legislation and frameworks.

  • Experience of managing people and ensuring they thrive and deliver high quality consultancy.
