Job description
Our client is an SEC-registered investment adviser focused on the U.S. sustainable infrastructure, municipal, and not-for-profit markets that was founded in 2008. They currently have approximately $1.1 billion in assets under management and manage multiple investment vehicles.
They have a broad investment mandate to deploy capital across the sustainable infrastructure landscape, especially focused on renewables, energy storage, and energy efficiency. The firm predominantely focuses on investments underpinned by real assets, such as sustainable power projects (and/or associated equipment, deposits, and/or receivables) that are either in development, under construction, or operating.
Position Overview
Our client is looking to hire a highly motivated associate who has experience in renewable energy finance/investing and thus can “hit the ground running.”The person would become an integral member of a small team, with responsibilities that include a combination (i) surveillance/asset management of the firm’s sustainable infrastructure portfolio, (ii) supporting the origination of new investments, and (iii) taking on ad hoc projects that further the growth and development of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Ongoing surveillance and asset management of existing investments within the portfolio
Monitoring the compliance of counterparties and performance of underlying renewable projects
Preparing monthly and quarterly performance reports for management
Assisting in the ongoing assessment and mitigation of risks in the portfolio
Overseeing regular valuation process of existing investments
Executing due diligence toward follow-on fundings for existing investments
Financial modeling and market research related to prospective investments
Taking on other projects as needed to support the business
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum 1-3 years prior experience in renewable energy, including either (i) finance- or asset management-related work at a project developer or IPP, (ii) renewable energy-focused investment banking, or (iii) principal investing into sustainable infrastructure assets at a project finance-focused commercial bank or private equity or infrastructure fund
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Demonstrated understanding of financial and valuation concepts
Strong project finance modeling and analytical skills; ability to build, audit, and maintain financial models
Excellent work ethic with a demonstrated record of achievement. Must be highly motivated, internally driven, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Outstanding analytical, organization, writing, interpersonal and presentation skills – including a desire and willingness to engage in business development on a regular basis
