Job description
The main purpose for the Grid Connection Manager position is to ensure the Grid Connections required for large scale Solar PV projects are delivered in a timely & cost-effective manner and ensuring that the connection is appropriately managed and maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Offer technical support throughout the project development process, ensuring that factors related to the Grid connection, both influencing and influenced, are taken into account.
Lead the effort to develop Grid Connection standards in Italy;
Carry out technical due diligence and risk assessment on Grid connection schemes/Grid offers received from TSO/DNO;
Liaise with Technical Advisors and Consultants to support Grid-related activities in Italy;
Estimate Grid connection costs and delivery timescales;
Take charge of overseeing the Grid application process, ensuring that applications are promptly submitted and smoothly progress through the TSO/DNO and other permitting stages without any unnecessary delays.
Maintain relationships with TSO/DNO to support the Grid application and delivery process.
Maintain relationships with HV/MV contractors and EPC Contractors to drive performance and ensure they deliver their services to standards;
Examine the technical designs provided by HV/MV Contractors or EPC Contractors to verify compliance with requirements, national codes, and standards. Strive to attain cost efficiency without compromising on quality.
To be responsible for “Grid intelligence” and also implementation of new connection methods arising from TSO/DNO policy changes and changing industry standards;
Negotiate and develop Grid connection designs that reduce installation time and cost whilst maintaining or improving plant;
Review and optimize grid connection solution to improve capex, opex and efficiency for all projects including M&A opportunities, green development and those under construction or operation;
Support the tender process to identify, negotiate and agree an EPC/ICP contract focusing on contestable and non-contestable works in Italy;
Support the operation and maintenance of the plants by providing Grid expertise to the Asset Manager and O&M teams throughout the life of the plant;
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the TSO/DNO design and delivery teams ensuring projects progressing smoothly through the project lifecycle;
Develop and maintain key processes.
Qualifications:
University degree qualification in Electrical Engineering;
Candidates with a Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy and/or MBA will be given preference.
To succeed in this role:
Fully conversant with the end to end TSO/DNO/ICP process for Renewable Energy plant connections.
Strong technical knowledge of HV (66kV, 132kV or higher) and MV (33kV) connection requirements in Italy.
Strong knowledge of the Grid Code compliance requirements, TSO/DNO connection procedure and administrative authorizations required for connection of renewable energy plants in Italy.
Knowledge of HV/MV substation and circuit design and construction standards.
