  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents to develop comprehensive estimates.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and scope details.

  • Conduct quantity take-offs for civil, structural, and electrical components related to substations (e.g., transformers, switchgear, control buildings, grounding systems, etc.).

  • Develop labor and material cost breakdowns based on industry standards and historical data.

  • Identify risks, assumptions, and exclusions in the estimating process and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, material pricing, labor rates, and vendor relationships.

  • Support proposal development and customer presentations as needed.

  • Assist in value engineering and cost analysis during the bid review process.

Qualifications:
  • 3–7+ years of estimating experience in high-voltage electrical construction, with a focus on substations (69kV–500kV).

  • Strong knowledge of utility standards, construction methods, and materials specific to substation work.

  • Proficiency with estimating software (such as Hard Dollar, Accubid, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
