Development & Construction Manager
Job description
We are supporting a well-capitalised clean energy investment platform backed by institutional investors, as they build out their central development and construction capability.
This is a senior, client-side role sitting at group level, responsible for overseeing the late-stage development and construction delivery of commercial and industrial renewable energy projects across multiple geographies.
The Role
You will act as the central development and construction partner to several operating platform businesses, supporting projects from late development through investment approval and safely into construction and operation.
The role combines strong programme and project management discipline with practical construction judgement. It is hands-on and delivery-focused, but not a day-to-day site management position.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Supporting late-stage development and investment approval for solar, battery and hybrid energy projects
Reviewing and challenging technical designs, construction programmes, costs and contracts
Providing structured construction oversight across multiple live projects, tracking time, cost, quality and H&S
Identifying and escalating delivery risks early, and supporting pragmatic recovery plans
Helping establish and maintain consistent technical and construction standards across platforms and geographies
Acting as a senior technical resource to support less mature teams and new markets
About You
You are an experienced construction or project management professional who is comfortable owning delivery outcomes, not just reviewing paperwork.
You may come from a client-side, EPC contractor or project management consultancy background and will have experience delivering multiple concurrent projects in infrastructure, energy, industrial or large commercial environments.
You bring:
7–10 years’ experience in construction or project management
Strong understanding of construction contracts (EPC or similar), programmes and risk management
Confidence engaging with contractors, site teams and senior stakeholders
Sufficient technical depth to challenge designs, programmes and construction methodologies
A pragmatic, collaborative approach with the confidence to push back when standards are at risk
