Construction Manager
Job description
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the execution of high-voltage transmission line (T-Line) construction projects across the Maryland and Washington, D.C. region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical transmission, contractor oversight, and field construction management, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with all applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day on-site construction activities for T-Line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV
Serve as the primary point of contact between project stakeholders, contractors, and utility representatives
Coordinate construction schedules, materials, and personnel to ensure efficient field operations
Conduct regular site inspections to verify work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to design plans and specifications
Monitor contractor performance and progress; enforce corrective actions when necessary
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NESC, environmental, and utility-specific safety regulations
Review and approve contractor invoices, timesheets, and change orders
Participate in constructability reviews and pre-construction planning meetings
Assist in outage coordination, switching procedures, and energization planning
Provide regular updates to Project Managers and internal leadership
Maintain detailed documentation of daily construction activities and incident reports
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)
Minimum 5+ years of construction management experience in transmission line projects (utility or EPC contractor experience ideal)
Deep understanding of transmission construction methods, foundations, structure installation, conductor stringing, and fiber installation
Proven experience working with utility companies in the Mid-Atlantic region (e.g., Pepco, BGE, Dominion, or similar)
Strong knowledge of environmental and permitting requirements for transmission line construction
Familiarity with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, etc.)
OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, and other relevant safety certifications preferred
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites across MD/DC area
