​Overview:

Green is proud to be partnering with a globally recognised renewables utility power generator with a strong presence in Perth, Australia.

Our client owns and operates and maintains multiple power stations in Western Australia. With a 25-year history in the State, they provide safe, clean, and reliable power to large mining and industrial customers and have invested significantly in stable, long-term contracts. They are entering an exciting phase in our Australian business as we expand with our customers and develop multiple renewable projects within Western Australia.

The role

The Construction and Commissioning Engineer is a key member of the Australian Growth team accountable for providing crucial support for construction and engineering projects. Their main role is to inspect the equipment, facilities, and any other aspect of an engineering project to ensure that it has been designed and installed correctly.

Duties include:

  • Provide constructability input into designs and lead constructability reviews including formulating action items and driving them to completion.

  • Drive construction cost efficiencies by establishing modularization plans vs shop fabrication strategies vs site stick-built requirements.

  • Provide constructability input into 3D model design reviews as part of the Front-End Engineering Phase as well as the Detailed Design phase.

  • Actively provide input to risk identification and management plans.

  • Approve and implement quality control programs/plans. Ensure the project is constructed and documented in accordance with contract documents and good engineering practices.

  • Assist in all Request for information, change order, and request for proposal processes.

  • Assist Project Managers in change order negotiations.

  • Work closely with the Operations and Commissioning teams to develop cohesive plans for handover.

  • Accountable for quality assurance and control, ensuring the delivery and acceptance of the end product.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or related specialty.

  • Power generation and/or renewable energy engineering and operations experience

  • Site engineering experience, including fundamental and practical experience

  • Sound knowledge of industry standard wind and solar resource assessment software and industry best practice in design of wind and solar generation assets.

  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of wind, solar and/or battery energy storage plant equipment performance.

  • Understanding of O&M requirements for renewable power generation facilities and how these impact costs to operate these assets and the overall return on investment of capital

  • Strong statistical background, fundamentals and understanding of industry guidelines for resource, errors, and trends in industry.

  • Sound understanding of third-party expertise and techniques for resource analysis.

  • Exceptional analytical skills using spreadsheets and plant performance evaluation software, processes, and programs to manipulate large amounts of data and develop tools and procedures for data quality assurance.
