Job description

​Title: Technical Development Manager - BtM Solar

Location: United Kingdom (Remote)

To support the business expansion as Project Manager for Behind-the-Meter (BtM) projects in development and under construction across the UK.

Role

  • Project Development (from site assessment to FID)

  • Lead customer site visits to assess electrical infrastructure, points of connection, and roof conditions

  • Manage planning submissions and grid approvals with support from partners

  • Manage technical due diligence activities for project acquisitions

  • and lead the UK private wire development approach

  • land lease negotiations with support from partners (private wire only)

  • Develop and manage relationships with existing and new suppliers, consultants, and other partners

  • Support with early-stage designs if/when the Engineering function is constrained

  • Support the BTM function team with activities, such as ensuring that the project design is properly validated

  • Develop the BtM function together with Business Development Director (UK&I) and BTM Operations Manager

  • Provide technical sales support to the commercial team during the sales phase with input on development timelines, suitable EPCs and local consultants and e.g. with developing the technical specification, validating technical proposals in RFP documentation in collaboration with development engineers

Responsibilities

  • At least 2 years’ experience at an EPC

  • At least 2 years’ experience at a technical consultancy, with experience supporting C&I customers on energy-related projects (solar, energy efficiency, EV charging etc)

  • Proven ability to manage local site stakeholders and customers through development, construction and COD

  • Working for a C&I business in a Site Manager, Plant Improvement Manager, Facilities Manager or Process Engineering role

  • BEng/MEng in electrical engineering from a top university

  • Track record and experience from having developed and constructed BtM solar projects in the local market/region where based
