Job title: Solar EPC Contract Manager
Location: United States (Remote)
We are seeking a highly experienced Solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Contract Manager to oversee the contractual aspects of our utility-scale solar energy projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of contract legal language and terms and conditions, with a primary focus on ensuring that contracts are detailed, consistent, and aligned with the company's best interests. This role will be directly involved in the contracting process and will play a crucial role in maintaining project accuracy and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management:
Collaborate with project teams to develop and review solar EPC contracts, ensuring they protect the company’s best interests, match budgetary and scope requirements and are in alignment with both company and industry standards.
Contracts will include Limited Notice to Proceed, Prime EPC Agreements, Subcontracts and Vendor Terms and Conditions.
Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks in contracts and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk reduction.
Contract Negotiation:
Skillfully negotiate contract terms and conditions to favor the company's interests while maintaining fairness and consistency.
Project Support:
Work closely with the Project Management team to draft and review Change Orders and Notices, ensuring that contract modifications are properly documented and executed.
Compliance Monitoring:
Continuously monitor and enforce compliance with contract terms and conditions throughout the project lifecycle.
Contract Dispute Resolution:
Act as a liaison between the company and contractors/vendors in the event of contract disputes, striving to resolve issues in a fair and timely manner.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and organized records of all contracts, amendments, and related correspondence.
Provide regular reports on contract performance to the Executive Vice President of Operations.
Client and Subcontractor Relationships:
Responsible for maintaining connections with our valued clients.
This includes understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and consistently delivering timely communication.
In addition, to client relationships, this role extends to subcontractor management. The individual will collaborate closely with subcontractors, building trust, and fostering partnerships.
Feedback Loop:
Establishing a feedback loop with clients and subcontractors to gather input, assess satisfaction, and implement improvements will be an ongoing responsibility.
Maintain Market Knowledge:
Understand and stay apprised of current trends in the EPC and subcontracting market as well as macro market factors.
Contract Tracking:
Track both internal and external contract tracking tools to maintain clear ‘ownership’ of tasks and revision control.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field. A legal background is a plus.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in contract management, preferably in the solar or construction industry.
Strong understanding of solar energy project lifecycles, including design, procurement, and construction phases.
Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to understand and interpret complex contract language.
In addition, familiar with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to solar EPC contracts.
Moreover, detail-oriented and analytical mindset, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
