Job description

​The Lead Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of wind turbines, dedicating approximately two-thirds of their time to hands-on technical work. The remaining time is focused on coordinating a team of technicians to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. The role involves close collaboration with the Local Operations Manager to ensure turbines meet contractual availability targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure contractual availability of wind farms in the assigned area.

  • Diagnose and analyze turbine defects in coordination with the Local Operations Manager (LOM) and team.

  • Perform autonomous turbine repairs and support complex repairs with LOM/back office assistance.

  • Conduct planned maintenance and inspection activities.

  • Complete and submit reports and checklists to keep stakeholders informed.

  • Document and resolve issues from maintenance, preventive maintenance, and customer feedback.

  • Provide on-the-job training for new technicians.

  • Liaise with customers and site management.

  • Prioritize emergency repairs to minimize downtime and costs.

  • Coordinate local teams, vehicles, and logistics.

  • Monitor and manage local stock levels and tool conditions.

  • Oversee subcontractor tool compliance in collaboration with service technicians.

  • Review and update availability reports.

  • Lead daily team briefings.

Education & Qualifications
  • Completed an apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.

  • Valid driving license.

  • Proficient in MS Office, SAP MI, and internal workload management systems.
