The Opportunity

Job duties and responsibilities: 

• Produces CAD designs and yield simulations for large scale multi-MW plants across Latin America; 
• Creates or manages the creation of professional drawings including civil, mechanical, electrical and monitoring aspects utilizing AutoCAD;  
• Prepares and reviews Purchasing Technical Specifications for equipment/materials or services;  
• Liaises with project development and construction teams to coordinate design requirements, studies, scheduling, deadlines and target service level for each task type; 
• Carries out the overall planning of any in-depth project design activities (from Pre-Construction to As Built), internally and with external engineering resources, to ensure the on-time emission of the project design documentation; 
• Supports project team in managing technical liaisons with local administrative authorities and other local organizations; 
• Liaises with or manages external advisors, development partners, planning related service providers, technical consultants, subcontractors, surveyors, clients, landowners, grid operators, electric utilities and other involved stakeholders; 
• Programmes, conducts and documents Project Design Reviews in order to provide an analysis of the project design’s technical consistency, correspondence to the project’s economic and scheduling objectives, and applicable legislation and regulations for the plant’s operation; 
• Attends on site during construction phase of project; 
• Inspects and verifies the quality of works being performed to ensure compliance with contractual agreements; 
• Provides engineering support to start-up, testing and system commissioning; 
• Troubleshoots and finds solutions to any technical issues or defects encountered on site, either electrically, mechanically, regarding civil works or with materials, and working with all relevant stakeholders to establish the most appropriate technical solutions; 
• Carries out a technical analysis of the project during construction stage in order to identify any non-conformities and to propose suitable solutions for project design and/or technical problem issues; 
• Ensures engineering documentation is up to date at any time during the entire project construction cycle; 
• Ensures all Health & Safety requirements are taken into account when preparing designs in order to significantly reduce the risks to safety and health during the construction stage and during subsequent use and maintenance of the PV system. 
 
 

The Individual

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
 
• Degree in Engineering or technical discipline related to the field of Solar PV; 
• Use of AutoCAD, PVSyst and any other industry databased and tools used for design and modelling; 
• On-Site experience with multi-MW scale photovoltaic systems; • Experience with medium and high voltage grid connections, including transmission lines and substations; 
• Familiarity with the Latin American solar market, and knowledge of applicable building and electrical codes for the region;  
• Minimum 5 years of experience in designing, developing and building solar PV Plants; 
• Experience in construction activities – engineering support, specification and schedule monitoring, testing and commissioning; 
• Fluency in English and Spanish; 
• Willingness to travel.
