Job description
Join a dynamic, fast-paced team driving the energy transition in the UK. As Lead Portfolio Manager – UK, you will spearhead the commercial management and growth of renewable and storage asset portfolios, with a strong focus on structuring and managing long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and optimizing trading strategies. This role plays a pivotal part in aligning commercial success with net-zero ambitions, bridging Origination and Trading functions to unlock value from renewable assets.
About the Role
As Lead Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the successful structuring, pricing, and portfolio management of long-term renewable offtake agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and optimization contracts for battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will play a key leadership role in shaping our UK asset strategy by ensuring seamless integration of contracts into the broader trading and operational framework, with an emphasis on commercial risk mitigation and market expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the structuring and negotiation of long-term renewable PPAs and optimization agreements with third-party asset owners, with a strong focus on commercial value and risk-adjusted returns.
Develop and refine pricing models and forecasting tools to evaluate PPA economics, collaborating closely with Origination, Risk, and Trading teams.
Drive BESS optimization strategies, including design and implementation of trading approaches and participation in ancillary services markets.
Manage commercial and market risks across the asset portfolio, ensuring sound decision-making aligned with market conditions and regulatory trends.
Design innovative contract structures and route-to-market offerings to support business growth and expand service offerings to renewable developers and asset owners.
Identify and evaluate new market opportunities and help shape the long-term strategy for UK asset growth.
Ensure end-to-end integration of offtake agreements into the trading business, including operational readiness, data flow, and contract execution processes.
About You
You are a commercially minded professional with a deep understanding of renewable energy markets, especially in structuring PPAs and optimizing storage assets. You combine analytical rigor with strategic thinking and thrive in cross-functional environments that demand innovation and commercial discipline.
Your Qualifications & Skills
Master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, physics, or a related field.
Proven experience in renewable energy trading, portfolio management, or structured energy products – with specific expertise in PPA structuring.
Strong understanding of UK and EU power markets, including regulatory frameworks, market mechanisms, and trading dynamics.
Solid grasp of the end-to-end lifecycle of power offtake agreements, from origination to execution and optimization.
Demonstrated experience in pricing, valuation, and risk assessment of renewable and storage asset contracts.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – able to influence across commercial, technical, and operational teams.
A passion for accelerating the energy transition and contributing to a decarbonized power system.
