​Job Title: Senior Marine Water Quality Consultant

Location: 4 days WFH / 1 day office based in either Glasgow or Buckfastleigh

The Role:

As a senior consultant, you will have the opportunity to work in and help shape a rapidly developing company involved in some of the largest and most exciting infrastructure development projects in the UK. Your responsibilities will include providing technical support and advice to clients and project teams, technical data gathering and management and producing high quality reports for environmental impact assessments.

One of your key responsibilities in this role will be to provide technical advice, assessment and strategic direction for the existing clients and projects, offering specialist input on physical processes related workstreams. You will provide physical processes support on the UK project portfolio, contributing to and/or leading on stakeholder engagement.

As you progress in this role, you will become an experienced advisor in the marine sector, applying your experience of the interaction of marine developments with marine process regimes to ongoing and future projects. This is a chance to be part of an innovative and dynamic team, working as part of an environmental and planning consultancy who are transforming infrastructure.

Please note that due to the company's desire to regularly work together face-to-face as a team; the successful applicant needs to live within a commutable distance of the Glasgow or Buckfastleigh office as time in office is required (1 day per week); the rest of the time you will work from home.

Key Requirements:

• A degree, (preferably MSc/PhD level) in a relevant discipline (geo-sciences, oceanography, etc.)

• Excellent written and oral communication, organisational and time management skills

• Working knowledge of the technical assessments underpinning marine sediment and water quality work (e.g. numerical modelling, sediment plumes, sediment contaminants and hydrodynamic assessments etc.)

• Demonstrated experience of working with sediment characterisation, including contamination datasets

• Experience with regulator and stakeholder requirements for the assessment and presentation of WFD and sediment contamination data and reports.

Desirable:

• Experience of applying water quality, including WFD, advice and assessment in an EIA context, derived from a relevant career in consultancy, research or working for government

• Experience of working within the planning process, ideally in England, Wales, or Scotland

• Experience working with regulators and stakeholders

• Understanding and application of Blue Carbon assessments

• A professional manner, with strong inter-personal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels both within the company and externally.
