This developer is committed to driving the transition to clean energy and has a strong presence in the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.

As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice and support to the company's renewable energy and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing a broad range of legal matters, including project agreements, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and commercial contracts. Your extensive legal knowledge, strategic thinking, and strong negotiation skills will contribute to the success of the company's initiatives and help drive the renewable energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to support the development, acquisition, and operation of renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including project development agreements, power purchase agreements, EPC contracts, land leases, and financing agreements.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, and monitor legal and regulatory developments that may impact the company's operations.

  • Manage legal due diligence processes for project acquisitions, including assessing legal risks and providing recommendations to senior management.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project development, finance, and operations teams, to identify legal issues, mitigate risks, and support business objectives.

  • Support corporate governance matters, including board meetings, shareholder agreements, and company secretarial responsibilities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external legal advisors, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure the company's interests are protected.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, changes in legislation, and legal developments relevant to the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors, and provide guidance on their implications.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, with admission to practice in Australia. Postgraduate qualifications are desirable.

  • Extensive legal experience, preferably in the renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy sectors, gained from a reputable law firm or in-house legal team.

  • Solid knowledge of relevant legal areas, including project development, commercial contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills, with the ability to manage complex legal transactions and agreements.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Sound business acumen and a commercial mindset, with an understanding of the renewable energy industry's dynamics.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal advice and contribute to decision-making processes.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of $200,000 - $250,000 per annum, depending on experience.

  • Opportunity to work with a leading renewable energy developer and contribute to the growth of the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.

  • Engagement in impactful work that drives the transition to clean energy and supports sustainability goals.

  • Collaborative and supportive work environment that fosters professional growth and development.
