Job description

​Our client is a leading player in the renewable energy sector, driving the energy transition through strategic investments, project development, and operational excellence. With a growing footprint across Europe, they are seeking a seasoned Investment Director to lead transactions and strategic initiatives from our Amsterdam office.

The Role:

  • Identify, evaluate, and lead renewable energy M&A transactions (e.g., wind, solar, energy storage, green hydrogen)

  • Drive direct investments and joint ventures across Europe, aligning with the company’s strategic goals and sustainability mandate

  • Oversee detailed financial modelling, DCF/IRR analysis, scenario modelling, and valuation of assets and companies

  • Lead and coordinate commercial, legal, technical, and financial due diligence processes in close collaboration with internal teams and external advisors

  • Structure and negotiate term sheets, SPAs, shareholder agreements, and financing documents

  • Monitor market trends, policy developments, and emerging technologies to guide investment strategy

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, advisors, banks, regulators, and co-investors

  • Manage junior investment professionals and collaborate cross-functionally with development, legal, finance, and technical teams

The Person:
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in M&A, private equity, project finance, or corporate development, ideally within the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors

  • Proven track record of closing deals in Europe, preferably in clean energy

  • Strong knowledge of energy markets, regulatory landscape, and project lifecycle

  • Exceptional financial and analytical skills, including advanced Excel modeling

  • Fluent in English; Dutch or other European languages are a plus

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field
