The Role:

As energy becomes a critical focus for businesses, this position has been added as the company is seeking to expand their European Risk Management (ERM) team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of key activities related to global energy markets, specifically European gas and power markets. Reporting to the Head of European Risk Management, you'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for providing professional energy risk management services to domestic and international client accounts.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage client energy commodity market exposures and associated financial risks.

  • Daily monitoring of price targets/trigger levels.

  • Record and report trade execution and market activity.

  • Produce weekly/monthly client position reports.

  • Provide fundamental and statistical analysis and reporting on global commodity and European energy markets.

  • Issue client recommendations with supporting rationale.

  • Support client market strategy development.

  • Deliver market presentations to various client relationships.

  • Collaborate with European office operational teams.

  • Handle ad hoc projects and client requests.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A Graduate/Postgraduate, preferably in Finance, Mathematics, or a statistical discipline or equivalent qualification.

  • Previous experience in energy consultancy or utilities is a requirement.

  • Interest in the European energy industry with knowledge of market drivers.

  • Strong analytical skills and numerate mindset.

  • Proficiency in Advanced Excel; desirable skills in VBA, Python, or Power BI.

  • Team player with the ability to work independently on projects.

  • Fluent spoken and written English is essential, additional European languages are desirable.

Additional Points:

Ideal candidates will possess over five years of relevant work experience in energy, economics, finance, or market environments. The role involves client service delivery, technical market analysis, and working with data. Familiarity with financial analysis tools such as Bloomberg and/or Eikon platforms is preferred. The position is based in Just outside London, with hybrid working options available.
