Job description

​The Green Recruitment Company are delighted to be supporting our client, one of the largest renewable energy companies with project portfolio over 23GW worldwide, in search for a Senior Development Project Manager.

This role will focus on the delivery of multiple projects at one time and will manage the financial closing process of consenting projects, with support from the commercial manager.

Brief overview of responsibilities.

  • Identify new site opportunities such as prospective landowners and assessing site constraints.

  • Lead projects in accordance with strategy to consent.

  • Oversee project risk using tools and contacts.

  • Manage budgets to the point of consent: overseeing the internal and external hours and costs.

  • Responsible for planning application, EIA screening, usually alongside an Environmental Statement.

  • Management of external consultants, engineering support for project design, ES production, or condition discharge bundles such as providing support for the team on procurement decisions.

  • Manage the team to enhance value and limit costs (DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX), building project viability on a subsidy free basis with thorough scoping, efficient working, economic modelling, procurement and innovative engineering and design opportunities

  • Support the Property Manager – including the terms of property negotiations.

  • Organisation of technical studies, engineering design and grid requirements alongside a comprehensive understanding of maximising profit and securing consent – with support from the technical and engineer analyst.

  • Coordinate planning submissions and oversee submission data for DPM’s and deliver consent for projects.

  • Organise appeals process, may include overseeing Public Inquiry.

  • Manage pre commencement planning condition discharge

  • Secure planning variations following consent.

  • Attain necessary permits and licences for projects.

  • Support planning condition compliance during construction.

  • Responsible for stakeholder relationships with key influencers such as local communities and planning bodies as well as objectors and grid companies.

  • Drive a communications plan focused on attaining planning consent with minimum cost and time whilst retaining RES’ reputation, with support from the Community Relations Manager.

  • Attend meetings with local authority and site visits.

Skills and Experience;

  • Degree in an environmental, engineering, technical, planning or science based subject or equivalent.

  • Relevant experience in renewable energy sector.

  • Successful management of projects resource and budget constraints.

  • Experience of team coordination and line management.

  • Successful dealing with planning authorities and other project stakeholders, including landowners, general public, project contractors, external consultants and development partners.

  • Extensive understanding of the drivers for a successful renewable energy development and common risks.

  • Detailed understanding of the planning systems and planning policy in regard to renewable energy.

  • Knowledge of the Appeals and Public Inquiry legal process.

  • Knowledge of Environmental Impact regulations.
