Project Development Manager
Job description
A fast-growing European energy storage developer is looking for an experienced Senior Project Development Lead to support the development of large-scale battery energy storage projects (BESS) in Germany. This role will focus on leading projects through the full development phase, with particular responsibility for grid connection, permitting and cable routing. The successful candidate will coordinate internal and external stakeholders and help move projects through to the next stage of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development
Lead the development of multiple utility-scale BESS projects through the development phase
Manage key workstreams, including grid connection, permitting and stakeholder engagement
Coordinate internal teams and external advisors to progress projects successfully
Grid Connection & Technical Coordination
Manage grid connection processes with Transmission System Operators (TSOs)
Support early-stage engineering, including project layout and cable route design
Permitting & Stakeholder Management
Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are secured
Work closely with local authorities, consultants and other external stakeholders
Cross-Team Collaboration
Coordinate with internal teams, including origination, procurement and finance
Support the smooth handover of projects to the next project phase
Candidate Profile
Around 5-10+ years of professional experience, including several years in project development or project management within renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate or large-scale energy projects
Strong experience with permitting, grid connections and infrastructure development processes
Proven track record of delivering complex projects through development stages
Experience managing stakeholders, including authorities, consultants and local communities
Fluent in German and English
Willingness to travel occasionally within Germany
