Senior Project Development Manager

Job description

I’m currently supporting a leading renewable energy company in expanding its project development team across Northern Germany. The business has a strong reputation in the renewable sector and combines decades of industry experience with a forward-thinking, collaborative culture.

If you’re passionate about accelerating the energy transition and enjoy driving large-scale solar projects from concept through to construction readiness, this could be an excellent opportunity.

The Role

As a Senior Project Development Manager, you’ll take ownership of solar park projects throughout all key phases of development. This includes coordinating technical, legal, and environmental aspects to ensure projects reach the construction-ready stage.

This position does not involve cold land acquisition– you’ll focus on managing and advancing existing project opportunities and partnerships.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the full project development process for ground-mounted PV projects in Germany

  • Managing permitting and grid connection processes in coordination with authorities and service providers

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with landowners, municipalities, and regional stakeholders

  • Leading negotiations and securing contracts with relevant parties

  • Representing the company in meetings with local administrations and political representatives

  • Collaborating closely with internal teams (technical, legal, communications) and external consultants to ensure smooth project delivery

Your Profile

The ideal candidate brings a mix of technical expertise, commercial understanding, and confidence working with stakeholders at all levels.

You should have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, business, renewable energy, or related fields

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in developing utility-scale solar projects in Germany

  • Experience with permitting, site evaluation, and stakeholder management

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

  • Fluency in German (C1 level or higher) and good English skills

  • Solid knowledge of project management tools and methods

  • A structured, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to work

  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel for on-site meetings across Northern Germany

What’s on Offer

  • A chance to shape the future of renewable energy in Germany

  • A collaborative working culture with short decision-making paths and open communication

  • Long-term employment stability and competitive compensation

  • Hybrid working flexibility

  • Support for professional development and continuous learning

  • Additional benefits such as mobility support and sustainability-focused employee schemes
