Role: Senior Associate, Project Finance & M&A

Company Overview

Our client, a renewable energy developer specialized in utility-scale solar and storage. They’re owned by one of the largest PE funds in the sector. Currently with an impressive operational portfolio and growing, they are looking for a seasoned finance professional looking to grow and expand their skills.

Job Overview

Our client is looking to bring on a Senior Associate who can support with Project Finance, M&A and asset sale transactions. Primarily this individual will support the sale of the operational portfolio and assist with financing the development assets. A strong background in financial modeling, M&A, and Capital Markets in renewable energy is essential for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial modeling, analysis, and due diligence activities as part of a deal team for project and portfolio acquisitions, joint ventures, and other development partnership opportunities

  • Actively participate in tax equity and debt project financings with the Freestone Renewables team, managing modeling, assisting in financier due diligence, and contributing to structuring and negotiations

  • Build, refine, and maintain financial models for in-house solar and energy storage development projects

  • Support evaluations and analysis of power offtake opportunities to determine offer pricing and structures, in close conjunction with commercial and development teams

  • Prepare presentations for management and the Board of Directors regarding acquisitions, project financings and key strategic project decisions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or economics

  • 2-4 years of project finance, investment banking, advisory, and/or other capital markets experience in renewable energy, power, or other infrastructure finance industries

  • Hands-on experience performing financial analysis for U.S. renewable energy project financings and/or M&A transactions

  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and analytics, including financial modelling skills from scratch, project finance, and corporate finance

  • Passion for the renewable energy industry, with a general understanding and familiarity with US power markets and wind, solar, and/or energy storage project development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop effective and concise presentation materials

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US
