Job description

OVERVIEW:

A leading global company specializing in the comprehensive management of renewable assets for electricity generation is seeking a Senior Accountant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a key member of the Germany team, this role will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Ensure accurate recording, filing, and reporting of all financial transactions.

  • Prepare monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts in line with company practices.

  • Enter supplier invoices and general ledger transactions in SAP.

  • Prepare and process payments using banking platforms.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts according to German accounting standards (HGB) and IFRS.

  • Provide monthly variance analysis and comments on significant budget/forecast deviations.

  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.

  • Coordinate and monitor timely payroll processing by an outsourced accounting firm.

  • Develop budgets and financial plans based on company practices.

  • Liaise with the tax advisor to support the preparation of various local tax returns and compliance (VAT, Income Tax, Withholding Taxes).

  • Collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and timely reporting of year-end accounts to the Group Controller Department and local authorities.

  • Prepare year-end statutory financial statements using DATEV.

  • Support office administration and contract management.

  • Assist the Managing Director in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, business, economics, or finance, or completed training as a certified accountant (professional certification).

  • Over 5 years of experience in a similar role within an international business environment.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting (HGB and IFRS).

  • Experience with DATEV and SAP FI/CO.

  • Business fluency in written and spoken German and English.
