Procurement Manager - (Imports), South Africa
Location: Africa (Remote)
Our client is a climate tech start-up transforming the clean energy transition in emerging markets. We are the only end-to-end investment and asset management platform for distributed energy, offering project developers and investors a business-in-a-box solution to finance, build and operate distributed energy projects at scale across the globe.
Requirements:
Hands-on experience in all aspects of supply chain management as above
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working as an individual contributor
Knowledge of South African customs regulations and trade agreements
Client ownership and client success mindset
Methodical, with ability to self-manage priorities, routines e.g., scheduled check-ins, reporting.
Experience of working on logistics and inventory management software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable
Knowledge of solar market and familiarity with OEMs and equipment types
Experience of managing internal and external teams
Experience of working in an entrepreneurial high-growth environment
Duties and responsibilities:
Shipping Management
Organize shipping, including taking decisions around consolidating shipments, selection and negotiation of best FCL/ LCL rates with carriers, pre-shipment inspections, etc.
Coordinate with OEMs carries and review completeness and correctness of documentation.
Establish routines for tracking real-time status of multiple shipments and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders.
Custom clearances
Ensuring timeliness and completeness of documentation for speedy clearance.
Coordinate with and advice C&F agents on tariff matters as needed.
Anticipate risks of delay and proactively take actions to mitigate risks.
Promptly resolve any delays, representing the company before custom officers as needed.
Warehousing and transportation
Manage warehousing providers; ensure due insurances and safety compliances.
Establish inventory management policies and procedures.
Maintain a roster of transporters to cover deliveries in Southern African region.
Streamline the system of negotiation and contracting to avoid delays.
Operations and Reporting
Meticulously maintaining CRM, SCM systems, technical and resource libraries.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Analyse supply chain data to identify opportunities for process and cost improvements.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
Establish routines for updating and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
