Job description
We are seeking an experienced Substation Site Manager to oversee daily field operations during outage season on a high-voltage substation project. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong understanding of outage planning, utility coordination, and subcontractor management in a fast-paced, schedule-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all on-site construction activities to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance during planned outages.
Coordinate closely with utility partners and project stakeholders to manage switching schedules, lockout/tagout procedures, and energization plans.
Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with scope, specifications, and project milestones.
Monitor work progress and provide daily reporting to project management and client representatives.
Maintain and enforce site safety standards and procedures in compliance with OSHA and company policies.
Identify risks, troubleshoot field issues, and proactively mitigate delays or conflicts.
Qualifications:
5+ years of substation construction experience, with at least 2 years in a site leadership role.
Proven experience managing outage-related scopes on energized or partially energized substations (69kV–500kV).
Familiarity with utility outage protocols, switching procedures, and construction QA/QC practices.
OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications required.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple trades.
Preferred:
NERC/CIP knowledge or previous work on regulated utility sites.
PMP or similar project management credentials a plus.
