Summary:

Our client are a leading design build company specialising specifically in heat and power networks across the UK. They work mainly in the construction industry. Their offering includes design, installation, operation and then maintenance of energy generating systems and networks. Due to our client’s continued growth, they require a Mechanical Design Engineer to assist in a broad range of detailed design including District Heating systems and energy centre design from their Central London offices

Candidate Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to support the design teams in producing and taking initial concept designs through to completely detailed design and construction information for our client’s project management divisions to install and commission.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out design feasibility studies
• Selection of plant and design
• The compiling of specifications and drawings
• Risk Assessments for Design
• Mentoring of internal personnel and external subcontractors
• To liaise with our client’s external designers & customers and other personnel within the business

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will ideally be qualified at Degree level or similar and will have 4+ years’ experience in a design/build environment. The successful applicant will have:

• A solid understanding of design values which will include Boiler/ CHP systems and heating and cooling distribution
• You will need a strong knowledge of current Building regulations
• Need to be familiar with National design specifications and a competency in AutoCAD
• Good communication skills
• Ability to mentor internal personnel and external subcontractors
• To provide assistance to others in the team when required
• Ability to manage your time and duties in a professional and effective way.
