Job description

​Our client is a clean energy platform focused on developing, commercializing, building and operating utility-scale solar plus battery storage projects in targeted US energy markets.

Their portfolio consists of 25 GW+ of in development and in construction utility scale renewable projects across the United States.

The Role

The Vice President of Asset Management and O&M will lead the strategic and operational oversight of the company’s renewable energy asset portfolio, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and profitability. This executive will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of assets, overseeing O&M activities, and driving continuous improvement across wind, solar, and energy storage projects. The VP will play a key role in maximizing asset value, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the company’s growth and sustainability goals. The position reports to the Chief Revenue Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Management:

  • Lead the strategic management of the company’s operating renewable energy assets.

  • Oversee financial performance monitoring, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Ensure assets meet or exceed financial targets by maximizing revenue streams and controlling operational expenses.

  • Develop and implement asset optimization strategies to maximize financial performance and operational efficiency.

  • Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and other key stakeholders including the preparation and presentation of detailed reports to these parties.

Operations & Maintenance (O&M):

  • Direct the O&M strategy across all renewable assets, ensuring high availability and reliability.

  • Manage relationships with O&M contractors, technology vendors, and service providers.

  • Negotiate and oversee contracts to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met, costs are optimized, and contractual obligations such as PPAs and warranties are fulfilled.

  • Oversee internal and third-party O&M teams, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and performance standards.

  • Implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs.

  • Collaborate with Performance Engineering to implement innovative solutions to optimize power generation, reduce downtime, and extend asset lifecycle through predictive maintenance and advanced analytics.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, industry best practices and company policies.

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Serve as a key member of the operational leadership team, contributing to overall company strategy.

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of asset managers, engineers, and O&M staff fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.

  • Provide cross-functional leadership through matrixed teams including Development Engineering, Performance Engineering, Construction, and Field Operations.

  • Drive digital transformation and innovation in asset management and O&M practices.

  • Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and with external partners.

Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • 12+ years of experience in asset management and/or O&M within the energy sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven track record managing large-scale renewable energy assets (solar, wind, storage).

  • Strong financial acumen and experience with project finance, budgeting, and performance analysis.

  • Deep understanding of regulatory, environmental, and safety standards in the renewable energy industry.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, power purchase agreements, and contract administration in the renewable energy sector.

  • Demonstrated expertise in leveraging technology and data analytics to drive asset performance and operational improvements.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Willingness to travel ~25% to asset sites and industry events.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with SCADA systems, CMMS, and asset performance management platforms.

  • Familiarity with ESG reporting and sustainability frameworks.

  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
