Green Recruitment has been retained on an exclusive search for a Regional Managing Director with a prominent international investment fund specialised on the development, construction and long-term ownership of clean power generation assets. As the Regional Managing Director, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and execute the region's strategy, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and oversee the region's investment activities and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of the region’s strategy, ensuring alignment with the businesses global objectives
Build, oversee and lead a dedicated team of renewable energy and cross-functional professionals in Australia and New Zealand, which will collaborate closely with investment, asset management and functional teams in the broader business
Key focus areas are solar PV, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), acquired in different stages of development, from greenfield to later stage developments
Originate greenfield and M&A opportunities for renewable energy projects in Australia, working closely with the broader investment team
Together with the investment and asset management teams manage the development and construction of existing (and future) portfolios of renewable energy projects in Australia and New Zealand
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, landowners and industry associations
Ensure the region’s compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies
Qualifications:
Excellent academic credentials with relevant degree in Business, Engineering, or related disciplines
10+ years’ professional experience in an infrastructure investing environment, ideally, with experience in at least one of the three relevant asset classes (solar PV, wind, BESS)
5+ years’ experience in senior management role(s) with proven leadership of cross-functional teams
Extensive exposure executing renewable project development transactions in Australia & New Zealand
Strong entrepreneurial spirit with sound understanding of investment analysis, revenue generation, cost optimization, and balanced approach to risk/reward
Strong project development experience (land acquisition, grid interconnection, permitting)
Demonstrated ability to lead and challenge projects financially (capital structuring, financial modelling, and financial advisors) and technically (consultants, technical experts)
Excellent track record of working with utilities, regulators, and developers in Australia (and New Zealand)
Provide effective leadership to the local team, promoting a high-performance culture, and maintaining a strong focus on collaboration, teamwork, and innovation.
