Job description

Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid)

Our client, a highly regarded European Solar Developer, is seeking a German Qualified Legal Counsel who will primarily support their German business with the development and construction of large-scale ground-mounted solar PV projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Pro-actively and autonomously provide legal support in solar project development specifically and corporate business in general

  • Be the go-to person for all solar PV project legal-related matters in Germany

  • In addition, negotiate and finalize agreements with third-party contractors

  • Furthermore, manage legal processes for our solar PV projects in Germany

  • Provide high standards and best practice legal support in the project construction process, supporting with drafting, negotiating and finalizing key project agreements such as EPC contracts and O&M contracts.

  • Involvement in other stages of the project lifecycle, including incorporation of SPVs, land agreements, PPAs and project financing.

  • Track changes to legislation and their impact on our development pipeline/future focus

  • Additionally, instructing and managing external lawyers

Requirements:

  • An experienced and energetic legal specialist who will support the business by ensuring legal compliance at all stages in its venture of growth.

  • 5-10 years experience as a construction lawyer, preferably in renewable energy

  • German qualified lawyer is preferred, but will consider lawyers qualified in other jurisdictions.

  • High-level understanding and interest in the different aspects of the project, including development, technical, offtake, O&M and project finance.

  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and commercial skills

  • Spoken and written fluency in German and English

  • Willingness to travel occasionally within (or to) London and abroad.
