Land Acquisition Manager

Job description

I’m currently supporting an innovative energy storage developer that is building a dedicated team focused on securing sites for large-scale battery storage projects. The company is scaling rapidly and plays an active role in enabling the energy transition by developing sustainable storage solutions where grid capacity and demand align.

They are now looking to appoint a Topic Lead for Site Acquisition who will take ownership of identifying, securing, and qualifying new project locations and, over time, help build and lead a specialised project securing team.

This role combines technical understanding, commercial negotiation, and strong stakeholder management, with significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape processes and team structures from an early stage.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify and secure suitable sites for large-scale battery storage projects, particularly near available grid connection points

  • Build and maintain a strong network with grid operators and relevant stakeholders to identify opportunities early

  • Assess sites for technical feasibility, grid access, and permitting potential in close collaboration with internal experts

  • Approach and engage landowners directly, including cold outreach, site visits, and negotiation of lease agreements

  • Independently negotiate lease agreements for both storage sites and associated cable routes

  • Develop and continuously improve site acquisition and project securing processes, including market intelligence through data tools and personal networks

  • Support the structuring, development, and future leadership of the site acquisition team

  • Work closely with internal teams (grid applications, project development, legal) to hand over fully qualified project sites

  • Represent the company at industry events, information evenings, and networking forums to expand visibility and site access

Candidate profile:
  • 10+ years of professional experience in site acquisition, project securing, project development, grid connection processes, or the wider energy/infrastructure sector

  • Hands-on, persuasive, and highly motivated, with a strong entrepreneurial mindset

  • Proven experience in land acquisition, ideally within PV ground-mounted projects, wind energy, or large-scale infrastructure developments

  • Solid understanding of energy project development, including grid applications, permitting processes, and land securing

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills when working with landowners, municipalities, and external partners

  • Structured, self-driven working style with the ability to move projects forward independently

  • Based in or near Western Germany, with willingness to travel nationally on an occasional basis

  • Valid driving licence (Class B)

What’s on offer:
  • High level of autonomy and the opportunity to shape a growing function

  • Competitive base salary with performance-related bonus structure

  • A collaborative, motivated team building something meaningful together

  • Flat hierarchies, fast decision-making, and an open company culture

  • A purpose-driven role contributing directly to the energy transition

  • Additional benefits including wellbeing partnerships, mobility support, and hybrid working

  • 30 days’ annual leave, flexible working hours, and regular team events
