Head of Technical (PV)
Job description
A well-established solar company with over a decade of market presence is seeking a skilled Project Manager to join its team in the Mannheim area. With around 50 employees and several hundred projects delivered each year, the company covers the full value chain: from sales and planning through to construction, commissioning, and project wrap-up – largely with its own in-house teams.
Since 2022, the company has been part of a large energy group, a utility headquartered in Germany. As a wholly owned subsidiary, it plays a central role in their long-term strategy. This backing provides exceptional stability in an otherwise challenging solar market and ensures the business is positioned for sustainable growth.
The Role
The Head of Technical will oversee two dedicated technical teams. Both teams report into the Head of Technical, alongside project managers. In total, this role leads a department of around 25–30 employees. The position is primarily people and process management, but requires the ability to step in with technical expertise when necessary, particularly for larger or more complex projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Full leadership responsibility for the technical department (installation & electrical teams, plus project managers)
Driving daily operations and ensuring smooth project delivery
Developing and implementing efficient organizational and process structures
Supporting technical problem-solving and providing hands-on expertise when needed
Ensuring compliance with VDE regulations and quality standards
Acting as a bridge between technical execution and company leadership
Profile
Strong leadership and people management experience, ideally in PV or related technical fields
Solid technical understanding of PV systems, including VDE codes
Track record of working on both residential and larger commercial/industrial projects
Structured, hands-on leader able to balance daily operations with strategic development
Offer
Attractive salary package in the range of €90,000–€110,000
Company bonus
Company car for private use
A pivotal leadership role in a stable, utility-backed solar company with long-term growth prospects
