Head of M&A – Amsterdam
Our client’s mission is to accelerate the reduction of Europe’s reliance on fossil fuels and have already established a portfolio of onshore wind and solar projects. They target markets that are underserved by capital and renewable expertise through a team with a long history in the successful development and construction of major renewable projects.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of M&A to lead their Mergers and Acquisitions team. This role presents a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the growth and success of their organization within the dynamic renewable energy industry.
Role Description
1. M&A Strategy
Develop and execute a comprehensive M&A strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives and growth targets.
Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets, partnerships, and investment opportunities within the renewable energy sector.
2. Deal Structuring and Negotiation
Lead the end-to-end deal process, including deal sourcing, due diligence, financial modelling, and negotiations.
Collaborate with legal, finance, and other cross-functional teams to structure and negotiate complex transactions.
3. Financial Analysis
Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including valuation modelling, to assess the financial viability and strategic fit of potential acquisitions.
Provide insights into financial risks and returns associated with M&A activities.
4. Market Research and Analysis
Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes that may impact M&A opportunities.
Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging technologies, competitors, and potential synergies.
5. Stakeholder Management
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including potential acquisition targets, industry partners, and financial institutions.
Collaborate with executive leadership to present M&A strategies and recommendations.
6. Integration Planning
Develop integration plans for successful post-merger integration, collaborating with operational and functional teams to ensure a seamless transition.
Monitor and report on the progress of integration activities, addressing any challenges that may arise.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g.,
MSc, MBA) is preferred.
Proven experience in leading M&A transactions within renewable energy or related industries.
Strong financial modelling skills and proficiency in deal structuring and negotiation.
In-depth knowledge of the renewable energy market, including technologies, regulatory frameworks, and industry dynamics.
Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Effective leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
