Job description
A leading renewable energy infrastructure platform is launching a new business unit focused on clean heat and district energy decarbonisation across German-speaking markets. With an established track record in large-scale renewable generation and storage, the organisation is now expanding into electrified heat solutions and sector coupling. To lead this growth, we are seeking a senior, entrepreneurial Head of Business Development with deep expertise in district heating networks and strong relationships with municipal utilities (Stadtwerke).
The Opportunity
This is a strategic leadership role with significant autonomy. You will shape market entry, originate partnerships, and build a high-value pipeline of projects that electrify and future-proof district heating systems.
Your Mandate
Originate and structure partnerships with municipal utilities and district heating operators
Engage municipalities and decision-makers to accelerate clean heat deployment
Build long-term, trust-based relationships across the sector
Identify priority markets and strategic opportunities
Guide internal teams on commercial structuring, site prioritisation, and optimisation strategy
Support development of a multi-technology portfolio (e.g., large-scale heat pumps, electric boilers, thermal storage)
Your Profile
Extensive network and strong credibility with Stadtwerke and/or district heating operators
Significant experience within district heating, municipal utilities, or advisory to the sector
Senior presence with the ability to engage executive-level stakeholders
Entrepreneurial mindset and solution-oriented thinking
Fluent German and English
Willingness to travel within Germany
