Summary:

An award-winning solar company in Sydney are seeking a Financial Controller to join their growing team.

Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for the management of information, financial controls and reporting functions for this rapidly growing construction business. You will provide senior management with the appropriate information and analysis to support the achievement of the company’s strategy and business goals as well as manage a team of five direct reports.

To be successful, you will be a confident and motivated Financial Controller with a proven track record in a similar role in Australia

As Financial Controller, you will:

·        Run the month end, quarterly and year end accounting and management information process ensuring all Group, Board and external deadlines are met

·        Communicate complex financial information and influence internal and external partners

·        Co-ordinate the forecasting and reporting of accurate and timely information

·        Manage the balance sheet reconciliations and weekly cash flow reports

·        Ensure the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the financial systems and processes

·        Manage and oversee the payroll process

·        Lead the preparation and lodgements of payroll tax, BAS, and PAYG returns

·        Manage and mentor your finance team

·        Work with the sales team to develop financial models for customer projects and tenders

·        Ensure margins and profitability are maintained and grown

·        Actively handle external parties such as accountants, external auditors, investors, banks, ATO, debtors, creditors, Insurance Brokers’ and other consultants as required

·        You will possess excellent social and communication skills with the ability to engage and lead, as well as establish rapport within the organization

 

We’ll expect you to have the following skills and experience:

·        Construction industry experience is essential

·        Knowledge of an ERP implementation would be advantageous

·        At least 5+ years’ experience in a similar position

·        You will have a strong sense of commercial acumen and an analytical mind-set

·        Exposure to budgeting and forecasting principles and processes

·        Knowledge of international accounting standards

·        Demonstrated Excel skills (Advanced)

·        Legal/contracts exposure would be advantageous

·        Experience working in a start-up – would be highly desirable
