Job description

My client is a global utility, seeking a Portfolio Manager who will manage a Northern European portfolio.

As Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for, or provide support in, the following areas:

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and various departments to offer daily pricing guidance, forecasting, and support for both standard pricing and special conditions.

  • Together with the team, build and manage my client’s power market portfolio, with an initial focus on the Northern European market.

  • Work in partnership with originators to support new deal origination, structuring, and pricing.

  • Develop a quantitative and fundamental understanding of relevant environmental markets, including the risks associated with managing an intermittent renewable portfolio. Collaborate closely with team members and analysts to share insights and market perspectives.

  • Optimize the value of the Northern European portfolio across long-, mid-, and short-term markets through OTC and screen trading. Develop trade recommendations to enhance portfolio performance within defined mandates.

  • Partner with existing portfolio managers to identify cross-commodity opportunities and risks, while maintaining a comprehensive overview of the Northern European portfolio.

  • Continuously improve modeling tools and optimisation strategies, and actively contribute to the development of best-in-class portfolio management systems and procedures.

  • Coordinate with credit, operations, and trading teams to support transaction execution.

  • Foster strong relationships with the proprietary trading team to encourage collaboration and information sharing.

  • Analyze competitors, industry trends, evolving customer needs, and market developments to inform market strategies and product offerings.

  • Handle routine administrative tasks related to portfolio management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Strong background in fundamental analysis, risk management, and market pricing.

  • Experience in trading, particularly in European power markets.

  • Proven quantitative and analytical skills, including experience pricing structured and non-standard contracts.

  • High level of analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, capable of addressing a range of quantitative, qualitative, and structural challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated personal integrity and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
