Summary:

 A leading Australian renewable energy developer, investor and asset owner is seeking an Energy Markets Manager for their growing energy markets team in Sydney

As Energy Markets Manager, you will be responsible for developing and utilizing analytical techniques to present findings to support decision making for the business

You will have a key part in assessing the viability of project opportunities for development and financing, you will assess potential electricity products, and work to improve the running of the company asset portfolio.

This role offers the opportunity to influence the development of various cutting-edge energy generation projects in a fast-moving environment with a highly respected company.

 

Responsibilities:

As Energy Markets Manager your responsibilities will be to:

·       Develop new information databases to support the analytical functions of the role and to support the business e.g. the use of optimisation modelling

·       Use data sets to identify, formulate, assess and present new business opportunities in:

o   Development of new generation assets (solar, storage, hydrogen etc)

o   Specification of derivative products or offtakes for investment opportunities

o   Review potential behind-the-meter opportunities

o   Review and evolve commercial, business and regulatory models to access future investment opportunities

o   Identify the potential for interaction between current assets and new investment opportunities

·       Take a lead on assessing the impact of regulatory, policy and technical constraints to investment opportunities

·       Inform and support the wider team with the evolution of the energy markets in the short, medium and long term

·       Identify opportunities for regulatory and policy change within Australian regulatory bodies to improve the wider framework

·       Support with bid management for tender processes and other business development possibilities

·       You will be required to support and be a vital influencer in the wider business by working closely with a number of internal business units including assistance with settlements, project finance (including financial modelling assistance for businesses cases), asset management, business development and executive level assistance

 

 

Skills, qualifications and experience required from you:

·       Experience working in the NEM, in energy market roles

·       Understanding of renewable energy generators, FCAS markets, derivative markets, policy and regulatory issues in the NEM

·       An understanding of trading products

·       Advance analytical software skills in Excel, MATLAB, Power BI and other programming languages eg Python

·       Experience in developing optimisation models

·       Some familiarity with financial modelling desired

·       Relevant academic qualifications eg finance, economics etc

·       Eligibility to live and work in Australia
