Job description

Excellent Opportunity for an Energy Market and Regulatory Expert to join a fast-growing team and to help support the company’s mission by analysing and leveraging European energy market structures, economics, support schemes, rules and regulations. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer. 

The Opportunity:

  • Become the go-to energy market and regulatory expert across the business, supporting colleagues in activities spanning strategic planning, deal negotiations, project valuations and scenarios, risk analysis and lobbying;
  • Assist in selecting the energy market and regulatory data and analysis that the business needs to develop its market focus, business models and realise projects profitably;
  • Provide insights and recommendations as to how regulatory or structural market changes can be best anticipated, understood, managed and optimised;
  • Take a key role in developing the ways of working, tools and knowledge needed to ensure the constant and appropriate application and sharing of data and analysis about energy markets and regulation across the business;
  • Propose the associations, organisations and networks that the business should be part of or support, including the style and content of engagement;
  • Review position papers and regulatory proposals in line with business interests and in coordination with relevant associations whenever possible;
  • Carry out detailed reviews where needed of European tendering processes covering renewable technologies
 

The Individual:

  • Minimum 6 years’ of relevant experience in market, regulatory and/or commercial roles in the renewable energy sector;
  • Well-established relationships with developers, energy market advisors, associations and/or regulators in the EU renewable energy sector, across more than one market;
  • In-depth understanding of multiple individual European energy markets including EU-level energy sector structures, regulations and political agendas;
  • Excellent understanding of energy market economics, with the ability to identify potential future drivers of value and risk and propose tangible business responses;
  • Comfortable attending lobbying events both at the regional, national and local levels;
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation, including a willingness to take on broad and varied challenges and responsibilities in a dynamic work environment;
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to work in a high pressure, customer centric environment while delivering high quality work;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (other EU languages a plus).
