Job description
Our client is a global consulting organization that supports the successful development, construction and operation of wind and solar projects around the world. North America is a strategic growth market for the Company; to support this growth, we are seeking a Sales leader with an extensive network in solar and wind, a proven track record in business development and client management.
This role may work from our North American headquarters in Boston MA or from a home office within the U.S with up to 40& travel.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Business Development will be critical to shaping and executing on the next phase of our growth strategy for engaging with current and potential clients in North America. This role will nurture new and ongoing client relationships and ensure the delivery of high impact projects across the renewable energy sector. Specific areas of responsibility include the following:
Quickly establish one’s understanding of our past and present clients, service offerings, market position, and team capabilities
Leverage one’s professional network and industry contacts to facilitate meetings between us and current/potential clients
Lead and develop market analyses, including a holistic review of past and ongoing client engagements and a study of “white space” for new BD
Examine potential new service offerings in response to market demand
Prioritize key client accounts for initial engagement, as well as determine the long-term plan for engaging with broader client segments
Actively maintain client relationships after project commencement and through successful delivery and completion, ensuring high quality, timely delivery, and high client satisfaction
Solicit ongoing feedback from clients during and upon completion of projects
Contribute to crafting and refining the our brand and market messaging
Advance the positioning of us as a leading consulting firm providing broad services for developers or investors in renewable energy projects in North America
Contribute to the development of targeted, customized proposals in the pursuit of new projects
Remain current with market developments in the wind and solar sectors, including developing comprehensive insights into project pipelines, development efforts, and construction activities
Actively attend and engage with industry-related conferences and networking groups to solidify our brand and network
Connect and collaborate with global sales and business development colleagues
Remain engaged with clients through project execution
The Individual:
Bachelor’s degree required (in business, engineering or related field)
Eight (8)-plus years’ experience in energy-focused consulting or professional services, preferably within the wind sector
Five (5)-plus years’ experience working within a sales and business development capacity, including direct responsibility for customer/client identification and management
Prior experience working in a hands-on consulting capacity within the renewable energy sector is highly desirable
Proven track record of developing successful market strategies and securing new clients/customers
Knowledge of effective marketing and branding tactics, particularly within the North American renewables market
Experienced user of MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Legal authorization to live and work in the United States
