Job description

The Role:

  • Deal Origination: Proactively identify and pursue attractive M&A opportunities in the renewable energy sector through market research, industry analysis, and relationship building with potential buyers, sellers, and investors.

  • Transaction Execution: Oversee end-to-end deal execution processes, from initial due diligence to final negotiations and closing. Ensure adherence to rigorous financial modelling, valuation analysis, and risk assessment.

  • Financial Analysis: Perform in-depth financial modelling and scenario analysis to evaluate the viability and potential synergies of M&A transactions. Assess the financial implications of potential deals and present insightful recommendations to clients.

  • Business Development: Expand and strengthen the company's client base by cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, renewable energy companies, private equity firms, institutional investors, and other relevant players in the industry.

  • Market Intelligence: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory developments, and market dynamics within the renewable energy sector. Utilize this knowledge to provide strategic insights to clients and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of M&A professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Ensure the team remains driven, focused, and committed to delivering exceptional client outcomes.

  • Client Advisory: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their strategic objectives and tailoring M&A solutions to meet their specific needs. Serve as a trusted advisor, guiding clients through the entire M&A process.

  • Negotiations and Agreements: Lead negotiations and structuring of deal agreements to optimize value for clients, while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

  • Due Diligence: Oversee comprehensive due diligence processes, including legal, financial, commercial, and operational assessments, to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with M&A transactions.

  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and updates for clients and senior management, conveying complex financial and strategic information in a clear and concise manner.

The Individual

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, CFA) would be a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, preferably within the renewable energy sector. Proven track record of successfully executing complex M&A transactions.

  • Industry Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of the renewable energy market, including technologies, regulatory landscape, key players, and emerging trends.

  • Financial Skills: Strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills with the ability to assess and interpret financial statements and deal structures.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to lead and inspire a team of professionals towards achieving common goals.

  • Networking: Excellent networking and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to establish and maintain strong connections within the renewable energy industry.

  • Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
