Job description

​I’m thrilled to be partnered with a rapidly growing utility-scale energy storage company in their search for an Associate Director of Quantitative Analysis!

They are quickly becoming a leader in the battery storage industry and are backed by some of the biggest financiers in the industry. With approximately 2GW of large-scale batter storage projects in development, they are looking to expand their team!

The Associate Director of Quantitative Analysis will help to develop and manage the statistical modelling at the foundation of the valuation and risk management strategies for the Company’s growing battery energy storage projects. This role will report to the Company’s SVP of Commercial Operations and will have the responsibility of building, managing, and maintaining the quantitative infrastructure and processes required to support the commercial activities of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage quantitative models that underpin the valuation of the Company’s assets and guide the commercial strategies designed to optimize risk-adjusted returns for the entire portfolio.

  • Formulate proprietary forward valuations of hourly energy and ancillary services and implement processes for real-time monitoring of the mark-to-market value of the Company’s assets and all existing or potential commercial transactions.

  • Manage and maintain option valuation models with well-organized, comprehensive representation of position and PNL attributions by greeks, location, and tenor.

  • Oversee the monitoring of market risk and develop quantitative processes that summarize key risk indicators and drive risk management strategies aligned with the Company’s revenue objectives.

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain battery storage co-optimization models underlying the revenue optimization strategies for the Company’s assets and all related commercial transactions.

  • Build, manage and maintain the internal systems and iterative processes that collect, organize and visualize all relevant market data required for robust quantamental analysis of the North American energy markets.

  • Collaborate with Director of Markets to build automated settlement models on an asset specific basis and incorporate out-of-market/uplift charges into forward valuations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Finance, Computer Programming, or other related fields.

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in commodity quantitative analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience in energy markets. Battery storage experience a plus.

  • Expertise in one or more programming languages is a requirement.

  • Strong quantitative skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and external parties.

  • Demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Team player and can collaborate with other teams and leaders in the organization.
