Associate Director Communications (Energy & Infrastructure Projects)

Location: London

I’m on assignment for my client who is looking for an Associate Director of Communications to join their expanding team. My client is a consenting and communications consulting company, delivering communications direction for some of the world’s most pioneering infrastructure projects including the water sector, offshore wind, onshore renewables, and other sustainable technologies.

The role will involve:

  • Imparting expertise and experience from similar schemes to design and deliver stakeholder engagement, consultation and PR strategies, principally for Development Consent Order (DCO) schemes;

  • Using your leadership and project management skills to lead on the delivery of these strategies, including client liaison and advisory, and working across multi-disciplinary DCO teams;

  • Using your expert stakeholder management skills to manage sensitive stakeholder relationships on behalf of the client and working across DCO teams on the coordination of stakeholder engagement and consultation requirements;

  • Managing third party suppliers and account management team tasked with aspects of operational delivery;

  • Identifying and pursuing new business development opportunities through your existing client networks and creating business development initiatives to drive new work and opportunities;

  • Developing and managing media relationships for clients both locally and nationally;

  • Being an astute project manager to manage project finance, budgets and external suppliers;

  • Being an expert in and keeping updated with the latest changes in planning, energy and water policies and the political landscapes across our client sectors;

  • Staying well informed about new trends and best practice in PR and engagement and imparting this knowledge to the wider Account Management team and clients;

  • Being a team leader and using prior line management experience to grow and develop the team.

Your Experience:

  • Proven experience developing and maintaining client relationships.

  • Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) consenting process under the Planning Act 2008 experience.

  • Prior agency or in-house experience is preferred.

  • Relevant academic qualification.
